Are You Cruising?
“Happiness Comes When We Turn Our Passion into Performance”
For me there is nothing more satisfying than saddling up for a long journey into the back roads of America. Feeling the wind in my face, the unobstructed view of the landscape going by, and the knowledge that I am in control of my bike while fulfilling my destiny only add to the enjoyment.
And although there is a cruise control, I’d rather rest the hand and wrist for limited periods before getting back into the throttle to experience the passion that comes from feeling the power and surge of the bike. It puts a smile on my face. Cruise control also limits my ability to adapt quickly to changes in the road, slow-downs, hills, rain, or unexpected curves and the same is true for business.
Consider, we had the initial rush of starting the business – the planning, the strategy and the pursuit of clients. Then came additional employees, meetings, and the day-to-day grind that serves to cloud our goals and vision. Over time we find ourselves tiring, our hand at the helm begins to slip so we shift into cruise control. Sure, the passion is still there but it has gotten trampled under everyday life and we’re now sort of going along for the ride.
But that’s when we really need to roll the throttle and remember why we do what we do. Time to re-map our journey and remember what we’re most passionate about – because that’s what we are good at and that’s what fuels our desire to do more of it.
Hell, we’re here to ride so stop cruising…your business will roar with new energy and it’ll put a smile back on your face.
