“Your living is determined not so much by what life brings to you as by the attitude you bring to life; not so much by what happens to you as by the way your mind looks at what happens.” Khalil Gibran
For most entrepreneurs this is a tough economy. Maybe the toughest we’ll ever face and not simply because of the state of affairs but because they’ve told us so.
Day after day after day we hear about this failing or that restructuring or those jobs lost. Each and every day we’re given one excuse after another to give up and lose. It’s easy; just grab one off the shelf. Hell, they’ve become so prolific we can pick a new one every day to justify our not winning.
People at our local coffee shop will commiserate with us and later others we’ll moan right in tune at the local watering hole over our favorite libations. We used to go to these places for an attitude adjustment but instead it’s now a place for an attitude confirmation.
But while we’re sitting there confirming the problem someone else is ‘mindlessly’ going about their business and making it happen. Rather than expend all that energy bitching and moaning, they simply focus it on more positive efforts.
Everything these days is a sell and nothing more so than the news. “If it bleeds, it leads” and it’s up to us to determine whether or not it’s something we need. After all, just because someone’s mouth is moving doesn’t mean we have to buy what’s coming out of it.
So when watching the news or reading the papers do so to gather information and use it – rather than consume it.
